ONE-Dyas, together with partners EBN and Hansa Hydrocarbons, have made a final investment decision for the development of the N05-A gas field in the North Sea. The decision involves an investment of more than EUR 500 million. This makes it the largest investment in a natural gas development in the Netherlands in the past 15 years.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate has granted ONE-Dyas the final permits for the development of gas field N05-A in the North Sea. With this project, ONE-Dyas contributes to the security of supply of energy to Dutch and German households. The locally produced natural gas has a considerably lower CO2 footprint than imported gas. This means an active contribution to the energy transition and to achieving the objectives of the Climate Agreement, in a safe and responsible manner.

The Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment has issued a final advice on the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for gas production N05-A in the North Sea. The conclusion is that the EIA contains the essential environmental information to make a decision about the gas production in block N05-A. On 23 April 2021, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change made the draft consent decree, the draft permits and the environmental impact report (EIR) for gas production project N05-A available for public inspection. From Friday 23 April 2021 to Thursday 3 June 2021, anyone submit a view.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change wants to award ONE-Dyas the licenses for taking the N05-A gas field in the North Sea into production. The N05-A platform on which the gas will be produced will be the first platform in the North Sea to run entirely on wind energy. The production of gas from the N05-A field fits in with the small gas fields policy of the Dutch government.
On 23 April 2021, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change made the draft permit decision, the draft permits and the environmental impact report for gas production project N05-A available for public inspection. From Friday 23 April 2021 to Thursday 3 June 2021, anyone can respond to the draft permission decision and the draft permits by submitting a view.

On 30 July 2020, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate published the Advice for scope and level of detail N05-A.
Partly on the basis of this advice, the environmental impact report (EIA) will be drawn up. The Memorandum of Reply has also been published. In this document the Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate gives his response to the views submitted. The documents have been drawn up in Dutch and German.

On 9 October 2019, the The Netherlands Commission for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) issued the advice on the scope and level of detail for the environmental assessment (EIA) for gas production in block N05-A.
The NCEA recommends among others that in the EIA alternatives and measures that minimise the impact on marine mammals and migratory birds should be investigated, such as a alternative that restricts activities during important feeding and migratory periods.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate has compiled and published all the views received on the ‘Gas Production N05-A’ Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
What happens next?
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate will soon be sending an advisory report on the scope and level of detail to ONE-Dyas. This advice takes into account the views and legal advice of the EIA Committee and others. Partly on the basis of this advice, the environmental impact report (EIR) will be drawn up by Royal HaskoningDHV.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) is organizing drop-in information sessions for istakeholders f in Roodeschool (28 August), Borkum (4 September) and Schiermonnikoog (10 September). Employees of ONE-Dyas and EZK will explain the procedure and the project and will be happy to answer your questions.
